Do letters of the alphabet have their own personalities?

Jul 1, 2023

The picture book Alphabuddies: G Is First! by Beth Bacon and Karen Kane and illustrated by Eric Barclay is a funny look at the alphabet. Check out this trailer staring co-author Karen Kane:

In the video, co-author Karen Kane uses ASL to sign the letters: a b c d e f g. Then the Letter “g” asks letter “a”: “Why are you always first? I want to be first!”

And you know what letter “a” says? Letter “a” tells “g”: “You will never be first!”

Letter “a” is mad! Letter “g” is puzzled!

All these letters…. all these feelings! Do letters have personalities? I’ve always thought they do. In this story….here are our characters:

Letter a: a self-important know-it-all but underneath very insecure.

Letter g: An innovative and fair-minded thinker.

Letter z: a little sidekick buddy.

Number 3: just wants to play!
