Look around! There are lots of ways to engage kids with interactive books

Mar 9, 2021

My books The Worst Book Ever and Blank Space are interactive. I wrote them specifically engage kids not only by thinking, but also by moving and responding and wondering about the book itself as a character or medium.  Interactive story books foster learning by really getting kids involved. The kids share the reading situation either with the person reading to them or, if they’re reading alone, they share that experience with the book itself. In addition to The Worst Book Ever and Blank Space, if you like interactive story telling, check out these books:

  • Press Here, by Herve Tullet
  • Where’s Ellie, by Selina Yoon
  • Tickle Monster Laughter Kit, by Josie Bissett and Kevan Atteberry

  • From Head to Toe, by Eric Carl

What are your favorite interactive books? Look around, read a few books, and don’t hesitate to drop me a line with suggestions on what you find. I’m always up for a good book that lets me read and play!
